In Roman-ruled Egypt, Joseph (Nicolas Cage), Mary (FKA Twigs), and their teenage son, Jesus (Noah Jupe), have spent years living in the shadows, trying to stay out of danger and remain true to their faith. But a stop in a remote village upsets the family’s fragile balance when a mysterious child begins tempting the young Jesus down a path of temptation and defiance against the rules imposed by his father. As the new friend’s influence grows stronger, strange and violent events begin unfolding around Jesus. The boy is haunted by disturbing visions, and Joseph realizes that a dark force lies behind them. Before long, Jesus discovers the terrifying truth about the child who lured him in—and learns his name: Satan.
